During a regular board meeting on February 9, Waskom ISD’s Board of Trustees voted unanimously to call a $35,000,000 bond election for the May 2, 2026 ballot.

The bond projects focus on improving safety and security, modernizing learning environments, and updating facilities aged 60-70 years.

Homeowners age 65 and older or those disabled will not incur an increase of WISD taxes above their current exemption ceiling as long as a homestead and over 65 or disabled exemption have been filed with the Harrison County Appraisal District. Texas law provides a school tax ceiling for homeowners who are 65 and older or disabled, meaning their school district tax bill will not increase above their ceiling as a result of this bond election, unless significant improvements are made to the homestead.
